Syuzanna Kaszo PIANIST
Bio
Born in the region of Transcarpathia in the Ukraine, Syuzanna was brought up in a Hungarian family of musicians. Her musical education began at the early age of five. Over the years, Syuzanna has appeared in many leading concert stages, most notably at the Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and Chapell of Bond Street in London, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, Plus Flagey in Brussels, Ehrbar Saal in Vienna, the Colony Hall of the National Philharmonic in the Ukraine, Petit Palau in Barcelona, Sala Sao Paolo in Brazil amongst many others.
Syuzanna is a graduate of the National Music Academy of Ukraine where she studied under the Honoured artist of Ukraine prof.Valery Kozlov. She then continued her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Syuzanna was one of the two winners of the prestigious ABRSM Scholarship for the year of 2011-2013 that sponsored her Master of Music Degree studies at the RNCM.
In 2016 by invitation from Dr.Tamas Ungar, Syuzanna has joined the TCU School of Music at Fort Worth Texas, where she graduated from with an Artist Diploma in Fall 2019.
Throughout the years Syuzanna has won many awards, which included collegiate as well as international competitions that enabled her to perform on major platforms worldwide, such as the victory at the XVI Stefano Marizza Piano Prize in Trieste, Italy, a Bridgewater Hall performance at the “Reflections on Debussy” festival and a performance of Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto with RNCM Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Gergely Madaras.
Competition successes include first prize at the A. Zatin International Piano Competition and the Grand Prix at the XXIst Century Hopes International Competition in the Ukraine. Syuzanna was also awarded a Medal in the Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona. Other important competition appearances include Gina Bachauer, Bosendorfer and Alaska Piano-e competition organized by Yamaha Disklavier in the United States as well as the celebrated Margaritue-Long-Thibaud Competition in France.
Notable Festival appearances count the SongFest at Colburn, Mimir Chamber Music Festival, Piano Texas in the USA; OST-WEST Musikfest, Semper and Mozarteum in Austria; Judith Weir, Steve Reich, Watford and Newbury Spring Festivals in the UK; Summer Music Evenings; In memoriam of Neuhaus; Regina and Vladimir Horowitz Presents at the National Philharmonic in Ukraine; Zemplen and Bartok Festival in Hungary.
Throughout her performing career Syuzanna has collaborated with many major orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, RNCM Symphony, Boston Sinfonia, North-East Orchestra, TCU Symphony, Estradno-Symphonic Orchestra of Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk Philharminic Orchestra, Uzhorod Camerata, Harmonia Nobile under conductors Volodimir Sirenko, German Gutierrez, Gergely Madaras, Mykola Sukach, Victor Zdorenko, Anatoly Zatin.
Masterclass workshops provided Syuzanna with an opportunity to work with legendary artists such as Maria-Joao Pires, Zoltan Kocsis, Andras Schiff, John O'Conor, Malcolm Bilson, Ilana Vered, Vladimir Viardo, Vladimir Krainev, Bernd Geotzke, Steven Osborne, Gary Hoffman and Michel Beroff.
Radio and Television appearances with numerous interviews and concerts streaming include Tysa-1 Radio and TV Station of Transcarpathia as well as 1+1 Ukraine’s National TV Station; Finland’s YLE Radio and TV Station; France’s Radio Clasique and France Musique; Italy’s Unipop Trieste Radio Station; San Marino’s RTV; Hungary’s National MTV-1 and Zemplen TV. The latter has filmed a documentary about Syuzanna’s artistic life. As well as several private broadcasting companies in the United States and United Kingdom.
In addition to her performing career Syuzanna is an enthusiastic pedagogue and has formerly taught at Fort Worth Country Day School's Music Conservatory as well as Texas Music Conservatory in Fort Worth Texas. She has also been a jury member for Texas’ TAPPS competition as well Ukraine’s “Transcarpathian Edelweiss” and has given guest artist lecture-recitals and master classes for youth and students of numerous Transcarpathian regional music schools and colleges. In 2015 Syuzanna has been the musical editor of a musical cycle named “Eidos” by a compatriot composer and writer, Joseph Bartosh.
As a collaborator Syuzanna continues working as a staff collaborative pianist at TCU’s School of Music and is a former faculty member of Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts – where she worked and collaborated with the Texas Boys Choir under the baton of Dr.Jonathan Ledger among others. Recent and pre-covid collaborative engagements have also included joint projects with the Fort Worth Opera and their Lesley Residence Young Artists.
